MAKC member Karen Bange took the photographs of George Bange and Johnny Motto after MAKC took possession of Penn Aqua Cave in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania on Monday, December 14, 2020. Penn Aqua is NOT a beginner cave—wetsuits required—but it is a popular and fun cave for not only central Pennsylvania caves but for cavers throughout the region. The MAKC board in October authorized George and Johnny to represent us at the closing. Johnny is our treasurer. George and member Rick Smith will form the first part of our management team for the preserve. Fundraising is not complete—MAKC financed part of the $38,000 cost. However, we are almost at the $18,000 mark—not quite halfway, but getting there.
