Brick Project Progressing

MAKC is raising money for its library and education center in Blairsville by giving cavers the opportunity to buy a brick in honor of or memory of a friend, family member, favorite pet, loved one, grotto, or cave. We have had many benefactors thus far from all over the place. Board member Jeff Jahn has spearheaded this effort.

Thus far we have placed two orders (we need a minimum number prior to ordering) and have started on order number three. The bricks are currently stored on a pallet in the basement of the library. They will be coated and then installed in a patio in the front of the house, where all who visit the library or who pass by on the street will see.

We presently have about 32 square feet of patio bricks, enough to get started. Recently, members John Long, Johnny Motto and Tom Metzgar began the process of preparing the future patio site by removing the poison ivy bed and some of the overgrown shrubbery at the front of the house. We are not sure if we will have the patio installed before the winter weather sets in; however, by next spring the project will be well underway.

To get in on the third brick order, send us a check or pay via Paypal (online-sales@karst.org). Small bricks are $60 or $68 with a bat, while large bricks are $100 or $108 with a bat. Brick donors can put up to three lines of text, maximum 18 characters per line. Thank you!
