Hesston Cave is a once-popular cave in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, near Raystown Lake. Owned by Dan Denton, who lived nearby, the cave was closed after years of abuse and vandalism. Dan and his friend David Bockoras gated the cave. MAKC arranged a lease, with limited access to the cave, and managed access to the cave for him. Part of the Hesston Cave project involved producing a new map of the cave, which was completed and published.
Unfortunately, Dan passed away. The property has been under new ownership. MAKC, via Dave Field, a local caver, continued to maintain a relationship with the new owner, Dorothy Denton. The lease has been renewed and the cave will open for caving (see management plan for details) in 2021.
