{"id":8984,"date":"2021-11-30T00:53:55","date_gmt":"2021-11-30T00:53:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.karst.org\/?p=8984"},"modified":"2023-05-08T01:38:33","modified_gmt":"2023-05-08T01:38:33","slug":"curt-harler","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.karst.org\/index.php\/2021\/11\/30\/curt-harler\/","title":{"rendered":"Curt Harler"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>(term expires 2024)<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Board Member, NSS 22735 CL (FE)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Curt Harler, a long time member of the Cleveland Grotto and a former executive vice president of the National Speleological Society, was elected to a three-year term on the MAKC Board of Directors in 2021.<\/p>\n<div class=\"swiper-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"swiper-slide scrollable focusable swiper-slide-document swiper-slide-active swiper-no-swiping\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"option\" aria-selected=\"true\">\n<div class=\"document-container io-ox-core-pdf\">\n<div class=\"document-page\" data-page=\"1\">\n<div class=\"pdf-page\">\n<div class=\"text-wrapper user-select-text\">\n<div data-canvas-width=\"452.35199999999946\">\n<p>Curt is a life member and conservation life member of the NSS, fellow, frequent contributor to the <em>NSS News<\/em> and co-editor of <em>Caving Basics,<\/em> published by the NSS. He is a regular columnist in the <em>Cleve-O-Grotto News<\/em>, contributed to the <em>Speleo-Digest<\/em> series, and is an honorary life member of the Cleveland Grotto.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8994 size-medium alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.karst.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/al-graves-curt-squeeze-rm-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"452.35199999999946\">Other books include <em>Historic Caves of the Cuyahoga Valley<\/em>, and <em>Historic Caves of the Lake Erie Islands.<\/em><\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"109.44000000000001\">He is vice chairman and founding member of the Ohio Cave Survey, a life member of MAKC.<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"109.44000000000001\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"109.44000000000001\">And, to those who think Pittsburgh and Cleveland can&#8217;t get along (in a football sense), Curt, eight time chairman and six times vice chairman of Cleveland Grotto, among other service, is also a member of Pittsburgh Grotto.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"109.44000000000001\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"document-container io-ox-core-pdf\">\n<div data-canvas-width=\"109.44000000000001\">Curt is a life member of the Robertson Association and TRA Grotto (OTR), and has explored about 500 different caves worldwide. He has been a survey team member on some notable explorations, including Hidden River Cave and Sarah Furnace Cave and many Ohio caves.
