Mark is a founding board member and first vice-chairman of the Mid-Atlantic Karst Conservancy.
He is the manager of the MAKC's Hall Cave Preserve.
He is the founder of the Juniata College Grotto.
Mark is also a former member and director of the Huntingdon County Cave Hunters. During his time with the HCCH he served as both conservation and rescue chairperson.
Mark also served on the management committee for the NSS's Tytoona Cave Nature Preserve.
He is the founder of operation Lincoln which was a long term research project at Lincoln Caverns, a commercial cave in Huntingdon, PA.
During the project, Mark brought together cavers from various groups to help with the exploration, mapping and scientific research of all the caves on the Lincoln Caverns property. With the help of Nittany grotto a new room (necessities child)(see picture) and small pit (Nittany Pit) were discovered in Lincoln Caverns. With the help of various unaffiliated cavers and the Juniata College Grotto a new section (the first in over 60 years) was discovered in Whisper Rocks. Mark also invited in the MAKC to help with the remapping of the caverns. The map was completed by Kim Metzgar in 2008.
Mark is employed by Your Building Centers of Pennsylvania. He is the manager of YBC's Lewistown's facility. He also does civilian consulting work for various government agencies.
